New trends and the future of the global media industry to be shaped at IBC 2024. Cosmonova Broadcast unveils innovations set to impress the professional community, an overview by CEO Taras Kozachuk. 

"IBC 2024, one of the most significant events in the global media and entertainment industry, will serve as a platform for inspiration with new technologies, experience sharing, and showcasing achievements.

Since its founding in 2020, Cosmonova Broadcast has annually presented innovations at IBC that redefine the efficiency of channel management.
This year, we have upgraded all our services through systematic automation and integration. This has significantly improved their efficiency and user convenience, and with our new tools, we are expanding monetization opportunities.

Most of these innovations have been integrated into COSMO|PLAYOUT, a platform that has firmly established itself as a reliable technical solution for launching and managing TV channels. The upgraded platform has evolved into a powerful monetization tool, offering even more possibilities for content graphics customization and simplified channel management.

COSMO|PLAYOUT: Total Automation and Expanded Functionality

We have introduced various scenarios for using SCTE-35 markers, even where it was previously considered impossible. Our clients can now insert ads into live and recorded broadcasts without pre-existing markers when QR codes or DTMF signals are unavailable. SCTE-35 markers, along with playlist ad markers, are automatically added.

Integration with advertising agencies from around the world allows us to create localized channel versions with automatic insertion of linear ads. Additionally, we adapt the signal to meet technical requirements in different broadcast countries by adding age markers, subtitles, and audio tracks.
Overlay functionality has been automated and expanded, offering tools such as interactive graphics and much more. Our clients now have all the resources necessary to explore new markets and captivate audiences with engaging content.

TimeShift technology opens up opportunities for time-delayed live broadcasts, giving channels control over their transmissions. They can delay or replace parts of a broadcast, filling gaps with ads or other content without overlapping live events.

Our service’s new interface allows for convenient management of all channels from a single location, accessible from anywhere in the world. This greatly simplifies the workflow for our clients’ broadcast operators, program directors, and content managers who oversee multiple channels.

At the exhibition, we will introduce a new mobile app that enables broadcast operators to use basic functionalities from their mobile phones, making it possible to work comfortably even without access to a PC.

These are just a few of the numerous innovations we have implemented in PlayOut. Overall, we offer users a reimagined approach to channel management and its monetization potential.

New Service: VoD Portal

The VoD Portal service allows users to quickly launch a platform with reliable content storage, broadcasting to a large audience, and monetization capabilities. It offers a wide range of tools, but users only choose and pay for the features they need, following a SaaS model.

Maximizing Monetization and Reducing Costs

Our R&D team continues to develop tools to expand audience reach and increase advertising revenue by leveraging new technologies. Our IT specialists ensure an intuitive and highly automated implementation. As a result, all our services have seen significant updates: the hardware-software complex Virtual Matrix for live broadcasts of any complexity and scale, the Webrec system for automatic cyclical content recording, the Stream Online platform for rapid and comprehensive digital audience coverage, and the IP Delivery system for terrestrial TV signal delivery to operators and providers.

Our clients are already experiencing the ease of use within our platforms, witnessing audience growth, and seeing enhanced advertising effectiveness. This is confirmed by one of our recent cases—ensuring the live broadcast of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games in Ukraine. We will share the details once we have final numbers, but for now, we can affirm that we have once again achieved our primary goal for our clients, not despite the emergence of new technologies, but because of them.
