Today, Ukrainians are celebrating Constitution Day. Adopted in 1996, it laid the foundation for our sovereignty and democratic principles.
This Law represents our commitment to universal human rights, including the right to life and health, honor and dignity, inviolability and security. It recognizes these as the highest values. The Constitution establishes the rule of law and equal rights, ensuring every citizen's voice is heard.
For six years, lawmakers prepared the text of the Constitution. The international community recognized it as one of the most democratic in the world. It was the first universally acknowledged Constitution of independent Ukraine and one of the youngest in Europe.
We are proud that this important date is finally etched in the calendar of national holidays, in our national identity. It testifies to our indomitable spirit, resilience, and unwavering pursuit of justice and freedom.
May every Ukrainian always remember the core values enshrined in our Constitution. These values unite and strengthen us, inspiring us to build a present that honors the past and cares for a better future.
