Exactly one month from now - on June 28, 2025 - the European Accessibility Act (EAA) will come into force across the European Union.
From that date, all companies providing audiovisual media services in the EU will be required to ensure their content is accessible to people with disabilities. Most importantly, this includes providing accurate and synchronized subtitles for all television broadcasts and streaming video.
Failure to comply with the EAA may result in fines, the amount of which is set individually by each EU member state.
COSMO | PLAYOUT by Cosmonova Broadcast already supports clients worldwide in meeting accessibility requirements. Automated subtitling in the world’s most widely spoken languages is currently being tested.
The official release is forthcoming, aligning broadcasting with accessibility regulations and enabling media companies to mitigate legal risks.
COSMO | PLAYOUT enables fast channel launch and monetization of television or FAST channels from scratch, offering end-to-end management, including automated playout.
